24 January 2012

There's so much going on that I'm finding it difficult to write enough words to convey the various joy, disgust and amazement that I'm feeling at what's going on.

I'll make some short notes now and expand on pretty much all of them individually over the next few weeks, particularly as some of them have been discussed before.

When did New Zealand sell its justice system?

In the past, I've lamented our rolling over for China, allowing their "bodyguards" to manhandle a New Zealand Member of Parliament in our own Parliament grounds, then also subverting New Zealand justice with Chinese in allowing Hiren Mihini's murderer to be tried in China.

Possibly worse than both of those is the unbelievable jailing of Kim Dotcom on bail.

Regardless of who he is, where he's from, or whether he has a silly name, he is also a major benefactor to New Zealand charity, having donated upwards of a million dollars to charitable causes here, including the Chch earthquake and Starship.

What law has he allegedly broken to be treated like a Mongrel Mob member?

Breach of Copyright? (and if you break down the ridiculous over-charges the FBI alleges, that's what he's done)

Murderers, rapists and bank robbers routinely walk the streets while on bail for reprehensible crimes against humans. Kim Dotcom is consigned to a cell in Mt Eden..... because he may have cost some millionaire singer or actor to lose a few cents in income.

Nice.

Atheists and the Law

I am gobsmacked that in 2012, people are being either jailed or fined for saying that god/s are a load of old crap. Gorgeous Polish singer Dorota Rabczewska has been fined for saying the bible was written by a bunch of stoners high on salvia, while poor old Alexander Aan, of Sumatra has been A) attacked by muslim fanatics, and B) arrested and charged with blasphemy!

Note that neither of these happened in Iran or Saudi, two places that death would likely follow those kind of comments.

But worst of all has been the reaction of the religious right to my hero of month (if not year!) Jessica Ahlquist, who asked that a banner with a prayer be removed from her Rhode Island school, as required by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Despite retarded conservatives' love of the US Constitution, they have had a shit-fit to die for. Here is a selection of the abuse and threats this amazing young chick has had to put up with:

Plain old punch in the face.

By a Radio show host.

And even called "evil" by an elected member of Rhode Island's ruling body.

A true tribute to both human empathy and religion.

Drowning

Fer crissakes, hasn't this become so obvious we should just ignore it? Stay inside the frigging flags!

Is a meal of mullet or a swim on a hot day worth your life? And those who would rescue you?

Stay inside the flaming flags or go to a swimming pool. Or Maraetai; when did someone last drown there?

Science & homeopathy.

I see that over 50% of people believe homeopathy actually works.

Somewhere along the line, we have neglected to teach our kids that science not just rocks, but runs our world. Medical science gives us cures for hundreds of diseases that were a death sentence only scant decades ago, yet people desperately cleave to this insane idea of "naturalism". I believe this is also why NZ has one of the highest rates of antivaxers in the allegedly developed world.

I'll give you a 100% pure, organic substance to use: ricin.

It is a completely natural substance occurring in the castor oil plant.

The plants grow wild in New Zealand - I'm guessing it's listed as a noxious weed - I used to cut them down all over Auckland 20 years ago. Quite a pretty bush, except for our climate being a bit too friendly for it.

Go check that ricin out on Google, then give a small sample to anyone who is so ridiculously stupid that they think homeopathy works or that vaccination is bad; they are already brain dead...
