Quote of the year, from a bloke I don't often see eye to eye with - Bob Harvey.
I chanced upon a discussion regarding Norman Kirk, whom readers will know as one of my very few true heroes & role models, and Bob was being interviewed. I hadn't realised that Bob was involved as an advisor to Big Norm and made the ad campaigns for Labour in 1972. Anyway, aside from the magnificent but sad footage of the great man and his unbelievable oratory, Bob was asked what New Zealand had missed with Kirk's sudden death.
Bob's reply was succinct.
:A future." he said.
Truer words have never been spoken. Instead of a man of and for the people, we ended up with nine years of insane Muldoonism. Instead of a visionary society where no poverty existed, we got nine years of a dipshit dictator destroying our country's assets and heritage.
What a trade.
