Unless you happen to be black and running to the cops for help. That's what Jonathan Ferrell found out when he did just that, having crashed his car.
Like their cowardly cousins in the military, US police have a "shoot before asking questions" policy. Accordingly, Jonathan was shot dead by some cowardly little puke with a badge.
