Oh, the irony.

USA declares a state of emergency worldwide, closing embassies and issuing travel warnings, due to an alleged increased risk of terrorism.

For once they were right, ensuring the truth of their travel warning by committing yet another terrorist attack themselves! *

Four alleged Al Qaeda operatives, and an unstated number of other people, have been killed by a flurry of drone strikes in Yemen.

No trial, no evidence, no nothing. Just the directive of some bloke who has convinced himself that the targets are terrorists. Given the level of proof required for US forces to attack anyone they choose in the Middle East, the concept would be laughable were it not actual people on the other end of those drone strikes.

I did a quick count of the scoreboard the other day, and the US has long since passed the 100:1 mark for retaliation, with well in excess of 400,000 killed in North Africa since 9/11.

I trust the White House staff gave President Obama's Peace Prize Medal an extra polish this morning.

* Just for the record, I will note Wikipedia's explanation of what terrorism actually is:

Terrorism is the systematic use of terror, often violent, especially as a means of coercion. In the international community, however, terrorism has no legally binding, criminal law definition. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror); are perpetrated for a religious, political, or ideological goal; and deliberately target or disregard the safety of civilians.

(My bolding)

What USA is doing is every much a terrorist activity as any bombing. I note that at least the jihadi terrorists do it in person, not from a bunker 10,000 km away, where no bullet or counter-attack is possible.
