If you heard about an entire culture of people being driven to the brink of ruin and possible starvation due to religious mania, you'd pick muslins first and christians second.
And you'd be wrong on both counts.
India's surging Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party has recently assumed control of the state of Maharashtra, and being the fervent Hindus they are, have outlawed the killing of cattle.
This is impacting on a cultural minority in the state who eat and kill beef cattle for the non-Hindu population in India - a number still in the hundreds of millions in the vast population.
