Saturday's rump steak is pretty simple, but I'll note it here so you can try it yourself.
I bought just under 1kg of rump steak at $13-99/kg on special.
Cut fat off, then cut into five pieces. In our house, that means four large and one small.
Braise steak in water, stock and flavourings for 1 hour, thickening with cornflour at the end.
Four carrots, half a head of broccoli and chips from the potatoes bought in the shopping.
Boil carrots, then simmer for 20-25 minutes, adding broccoli after 15 minutes. This keeps the broccoli firm and a little crunchy.
Cut chips, when all are cut, drizzle canola oil and shake to get even coverage, then into hot oven $200C fan, or 220C ordinary) for around 30 minutes - start checking on them after 20 or so minutes.
Voila!
A tasty, nutritious dinner for five. Total cost: $18-00.
