Enough!

The time for PC has passed - we've tried that and it's fucking useless.

As another Maori couple is sentenced for killing their child, I am calling for an end to the systemic culture of child abuse within Maori.

Yes, other people kill their kids, but it is a fact that 55% of child abuse cases in this country are perpetrated by Maori, despite them making up only 15% of the population. Take out Maori and NZ's child abuse statistics are very average and no worse than any other developed nation.

The government makes lots of noises about child abuse, but insists that it's society's problem.

I cannot agree with that any more - it isn't a Kiwi problem, it's a Maori problem and ignoring that is allowing the culture of horrific child abuse to continue unchecked.

That part is made plain by the police and prosecution allowing the insane position of these people pleading guilty to manslaughter. It's no coincidence the second half of the word is "laughter" because the concept would be risible if it weren't dead babies.

The concept of manslaughter is allowable if the perpetrator wasn't aware his actions could cause death.

Yet we allowed a boxing champion to claim he didn't realise beating his 5 month old child could kill her, giving him a paltry 4 years of jail. The fact that we then allowed him to fly the NZ flag at a Commonwealth Games is even more appalling. What kind of message does that send? Note that that was 20 years ago, so the lessons haven't been learned.

How many more do you want in the meantime?

Nia Glassie - an entire whanau of five participated in the ongoing torture that ultimately killed her. Note that only two were charged with murder, and also stand in awe at how bad the case must have been that the judge offerred counselling to jurors.

Two Maori women who battered a six-year-old to death over the course of months, yet were allowed to plead guilty to manslaughter.

Another five month old baby who cried while the Maori dad was playing Playstation and got beaten to death for it. Excuse me, but if you hit a tiny baby hard enough to split its liver in two, I think that passes the test for murder, but good old Trent Hapkuku only got nine lousy years.

Hapuku will be out in 5 or 6 years, so having been sentenced in 2012, he will be coming to a neighbourhood near you in the next few years as a very angry man of 30 years old. Enjoy!

Case after case, week after week we see it - and while people get uptight and demand action, I have yet to see anyone demanding Maori own up to it. I don't see Hone Harawira & Co telling Maori to stop killing their kids.

When there's money, Maori come sniffing around like pigs at the trough. Occupy Kaitaia Airport, cry about the Kermadec Marine Reserve, even try to claim ownership of all the water in the country - but don't ever make an effort to sort your sick society out. Blaming the white guy isn't an option any more.

I'll cut a deal - no more Treaty settlements will even be considered until the rate of Maori child abuse drops to levels seen among humans.

If they can't show respect for human life, why the hell should we respect their culture at all?

And it's clear where their loyalties lie - in jails around the world, child-killers often turn up dead. In NZ jails, where the perpetrators just snuggle down with their bros, nobody cares. Better to be a child-murdering Maori than any pakeha. Their culture protects and harbours the perpetrators, doesn't it, Kahui family?
